I help stressed & overwhelmed Brooklynites find space, clarity & calm in this crazy city. Anxiety & depression can make you feel stuck, unfulfilled, or lost. Oftentimes these feelings pop up when you are in transition (change in relationships, job, new baby, moving, etc), or could be connected to longstanding patterns of negative self-talk or low self-esteem. By helping you slow down, focus on self-care, and offering a safe non-judgmental space to explore & express these feelings, concerns and confusion- I help people who are ready to feel un-stuck and want to feel more fulfilled & content in their lives.

Psychotherapy sessions take place weekly; sometimes 2x/week or biweekly options will also work. If you are looking for a less frequent option, with a more focused and goal-oriented approach, please see my Coaching offerings.

Run, Walk & Talk Therapy- Outside Therapy Sessions in Brooklyn’s Nature.

Study after study has shown the benefits of walking in nature. Even The New York Times highlighted this and the physical effects on your brain from just spending some time (even 30 minutes) in nature. Walking can help relieve stress, lower levels of depression and improve physical fitness and overall health.

But I know that sometimes (especially when the weather is not ideal), getting up and out of the house can be challenge enough. As an add-on to your coaching and/or psychotherapy sessions, I offer this non-traditional service to improve health and wellness (both physical and mental). We will meet at the Grand Army Plaza or LakeSide entrances to Prospect Park and will, quite literally, take a walk in the park. Clearly, confidentiality cannot be 100% ensured in a public setting but the time walking can be spent, at your discretion, as you would spend your typical coaching or psychotherapy session.

I offer 3 different routes, and these may be adjusted at the last minute (depending on our particular pace for that day’s walk). The full inner loop (3.36 miles) will take approximately 65 minutes, upper loop (grand army plaza to center drive, 2.44 miles) will take approximately 45 minutes. The lower loop (Lakeside to center drive, 2.06 miles) will take approximately 40 minutes.

 

All walks take place in the morning/daytime hours; available days and times are based on therapist's availability and may change weekly. Active sessions require one in-office intake session. Intake session and outside sessions can both be scheduled online.

Pathways to connection and being your best, together.

I work with all types of couples, partnerships, and intimate relationships. 

I work together with couples to identify current stressors (as well as strengths) in their relationship. Therapy goals center around improving their overall communication, understanding, satisfaction, and CONNECTION- as a couple. Treatment will focus on relational dynamics and work to improve the couples’ overall ability to empathize with one another’s experiences and understand the unique roles they each play. Through our work together, clients will become better at improving awareness of negative patterns of communication impacting their relationship. Through improving communication and empathy it is the hope that a more safe, supportive, and fulfilling relationship may be achieved.

Couples sessions can be good for: 
 ~happy couples looking to build and maintain a solid and healthy foundation. 
 ~struggling or stressed out couples looking to reconnect and get back on the same page. 
 ~couples exploring separation, and want to do so in a way that is supportive for all parties involved.

Practical coaching to focus, discover & reach your goals.

With coaching we will be focused on specific goals and I will help you make a plan to achieve each goal. Coaching sessions are not required on a weekly basis, you may find that bi-weekly or monthly sessions are helpful. With coaching I will help you chose specific goals you want to work on, break big life-goals down into attainable steps, prioritize segments of your life, improve time management, help with decision making, and track your progress/adjusting your plan when challenges come up.

For wellness specific coaching, please check out my WELLNESS INITIATIVE. It's a great way to get started, with a holistic approach.

Coaching sessions are 50 minutes long, and follow the same fee schedule as psychotherapy appointments. 30 minute follow up appointments are also available. I may recommend more frequent coaching sessions, if necessary. Or we may discuss whether fully engaging in psychotherapy would be helpful for you as well. Coaching sessions cannot be covered by insurance.

WHO ONLINE THERAPY MIGHT BE GOOD FOR? For those with busy jobs traveling in/out of NYC; ex-pats living abroad; parents/caretakers with busy schedules; on vacation, but want to continue regular sessions; live in NY state (but not NYC or Brooklyn). 

*ONLINE SESSIONS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE for anyone experiencing severe/high levels of distress from depression, anxiety, trauma or other symptoms that are best treated in-person. If you're unsure, just ask!
